International Youth Day is an awareness day which is celebrated each year on 12th of August. The main motive of this day is to draw attention towards a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding the Youth.

The first International youth Day was celebrated on 12th August in 2000. It is an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in promoting human rights and development.

The theme for this year's International Youth Day is "Safe Spaces for Youth". Youth plays an important role in a country, they are the future of the country and they have to initiate some steps for the betterment of the society. They are fearless and full of enthusiasm.

The three main objectives of this year's International Youth Day are to increase the commitment and investment in youth, to increase youth participation and partnership and to increase the intercultural understanding among youth.

Youth need safe spaces where they can come together, engage in activities related to their diverse needs and interests, participate in decision making processes and freely express themselves. While there are various kinds of spaces, safe spaces take care of the dignity and safety of youth.

Education is must for everyone. Some people get less education or no education at all, and find few decent employment opportunities. They struggle to access basic sexual and reproductive health information and services. Without these, young people - young women, in particular find themselves dealing with poverty, early pregnancy, disease and other challenges.

We have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools. Everybody should make sure that people who are having the grades, the desire and the will, but not the money, can still get the best education possible.

The Program encourages youth around the world to ensure steps to raise awareness about the situation of youth in their country. On International Youth Day various concerts, workshops and meetings involving the local and national government officials are organized around the world and youth groups also shows interest in it.

All persons between the ages of 15 and 24 qualify as youth and according to 2010 statistics, they constitute 18% of the global population with 87% of international youth residing in developing countries. The development of any society depends on how well it cares its young women and men, how well they are supported.

International Youth Day is a day when the whole world is forced to recognize how brilliant and important young people are. One can harness the energy of the day by organizing an event, like a youth debate or a talent show, to an activity, like planting trees around town or holding a community football game.

In a message about International Youth Day, there was a saying that, "Young people are not only our future-they are our present… They are the most connected, the most outspoken and the most open-minded generation the world has ever seen." Today's youth have possibilities to shape the world both in the present and in the future.
