Thyroid gland is one of the major glands in the human body which plays the vital function of producing the hormones. The hormones produced by the thyroid gland helps in the regulation of metabolism. Any abnormal change in the thyroid gland such as excessive hormone production or low levels of hormones leads the problem known as thyroid disorder.

Thyroid disorder is one of the most common gland disorders that affect nearly 2 billion people worldwide. Thyroid disorder makes it difficult to cope up with regular life. However, it is possible to keep aside the symptoms of thyroid disorder by adopting a healthy diet plan.

Brazil Nuts- Brazil nuts are an abundant source of selenium, which is very beneficial in the treatment of thyroid and you can eat them on the go. Brazil nuts are also loaded with antioxidants and can help in alleviating stress. Add a handful of nuts in your daily diet to avoid the complications associated with thyroid disorder.

Whole grain foods- Whole grain foods such as pasta, bread, cereal, and rice are abundant in nutrients and fibres. Whole grain foods lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and obesity. Adding whole grain foods to your daily diet helps in managing overall weight of a thyroid patient.

Drink plenty of water- A patient with thyroid disorder is recommended to drink at least 10 glasses of water daily. Water speeds up the process of metabolism and ensures proper digestion of food. Water can also reduce the effects of bloating and helps in the retention of fluids. The fluoride and chlorine present in the water can block the iodine receptors in the thyroid.

Dairy products- Deficiency of vitamin D is one of the prime causes of hypothyroidism. Dairy products are an abundant source of vitamin D and helpful in providing relief from heartburn and indigestion. Calcium, protein, and healthy bacteria present in the dairy products keep the bowel in the body clean and promote healthy daily motion.

Beans- Beans are a great source of sustained energy and prevent the body from draining essential fluids. Beans contain high amount of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and proteins. Selenium and fibre present in the beans provide relief from constipation, which is a common side effect of thyroid.

An essential fatty acid present in the coconut oil ensures proper metabolic function of body. Coconut oil is made up of saturated fat that can help control the function of hormone production in the body. Use of coconut oil increases the metabolism rate and helps in weight loss.

Berries- Fibres present in the berries traps the food particles and flush the harmful toxins out of your body before they proliferate in your internal system. Berries are rich in antioxidants. They boost your immunity and digestive system and keeps blood sugar and stomach bloating under control. Eating strawberries, raspberries and blue berries improve blood flow in your body and help in easy contraction of muscles.
